Dr. Cho preached at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Washington DC. In attendance were 2,500 telecasting mission officials from all over the world including CBS, Far East Broadcasting System, and Asia Broadcasting System in Korea.
* February 29~March 4
Dr. Cho led American church leaders' seminars and crusades. He held an American Christian Leaders' Seminar with the theme "Tomorrow's success starts with today's vision," in Christian Faith Center in Seattle with 5,000 interdenominational pastors attending. From March 5-8, he led Church Growth seminars and crusades in Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
* April 6
Dr. Cho led the Japanese crusade from April 6-7 in Jama Church (Rev. Okawazdo), Tokyo with 500 participating. On the morning of April 8, Dr. Cho preached in the Theological Seminary called Asia Church Growth Institute in Full Gospel Tokyo Church and held crusades at night.
* May 21~23
Dr. Cho led a German crusade. He held Church Growth seminars and crusades in Koln Christ Church, organized by Koln Church Union. The union invited Dr. Cho to promote the church growth movement and to spread the Pentecostal faith. This occasion become the motivation to change the sluggish German church growth. Special lecturers were German pastor Dr. Volffart and Dr. Donald Nothrop, a church growth specialist who is active in the USA and Germany.
* June 10
Received license for a daily newspaper from Culture and Information Ministry as a means of documentation mission named Baedal News (temporary name).
* June 15~17
The 15th Full Gospel World Mission Convention was held with 170 missionaries and their wives from North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. It progressed with America Night and mission report activities with enthusiastic support.
* June 22~24
Dr. Cho preached in the Hibya Public Hall, Tokyo organized by the Tokyo Evangelization Committee as part of the 1988 10 Million Japanese Soul Saving Mission with 2,000 people participating. He preached about the importance of prayer and faith. Many people were healed.
* July 26
The ceremony for the completion of Elim Welfare Town -
Elim Welfare Town is the largest welfare facility of its kind in Asia. It was built on 20,000 pyung of land (approximately 17 acres), with a budget of 150 million won (approximately $23,000,000 usd). Modern facilities have provided a comfortable living experience for senior citizens and youth. The purpose of Elim Welfare Town is to offer correct guidance for unemployed youth by providing vocational training and job placement. As well, it provides apartments for homeless senior citizens in a Christian atmosphere and provides for their spiritual growth.
* August 15~18
88' World Evangelism Great Rally was held with about three million people attending. The rally was led by pastors Hyun-kyun Shin, David Yonggi Cho, Man-shin Lee, Woo-young Kim, Chong-jin Pi, and Chang-in Kim. On the first day, Dr. Cho preached a message titled, "Why Must We Receive the Holy Spirit?" He emphasized, "There must be an explosion of the work of the Holy Spirit for the nation to be renewed among a society having discord.
* September 4
An interview with Dr. Cho was featured by the Washington Post - In the article titled, "Seoul, Active Capital of South Korea" to introduce the host city of the 1988 Olympic Games, one focal point was Yoido Full Gospel Church and Dr. Cho.
* September 18
The Sunday worship service of Yoido Full Gospel Church was broadcast by satellite TV across the United States, which was supported by the broadcasting station of Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California.
* November 11
Dr. Cho left for meetings in Oklahoma - On the 13th, Dr. Cho preached for the Sunday worship service at Oral Roberts University with 5,000 people participating. November 14-16, Dr. Cho led a Church Growth International Seminar and preached at evening crusades at Victory Christian Center, where the local pastors and lay Christians were graciously blessed. For three days, around 20,000 people attended, and they experienced the fullness of the Holy Spirit and divine healing.
* December 6~8
Dr. Cho's crusade in Taiwan (Nationalist China) - Conducted by Taiwan Christian Union Eastern Prayer Association, the crusade was held at Taiwan Kaohsiung Stadium for two days.
