Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Do Not Receive God¡¯s Grace in Vain
2 Corinthians 6:1 ~ 6:2

2002-07-07

Under the leadership of Coach Guus Hiddink from the Netherlands, Korean soccer has been revolutionized. Although it had no recognition from European soccer teams in the past, today the Korean soccer team is being highly commended. In the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, Korea reached the round of 16, the round of 8, and even the round of 4. A leader of an organization or a nation can change the destiny of that organization or nation. We are proud and excited to be on God's team, His fellow workers. Can you imagine what our future might be? However, we must meet certain conditions.

Do not receive God's grace in vain. God created the world and mankind with the intent of blessing him (Psalm 104:24; Genesis 2:1-3). Adam and Eve only had to trust God and serve Him. But they were like a child given a table of food who upturned the table because he wanted to prepare his own food. They refused God's grace and rebelled against Him, attempting to become like God and do things on their own. Through sin, mankind became a slave to hardship, destined for the curse of hell (Genesis 3:17-19). Jesus provided salvation for us (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8). But we receive God's grace in vain if we try to live on our own. We can live an abundant life if we seek God first in everything. He is longing to provide for us (Matthew 6:31-33; 11:28).

In the time of my favor, I heard you. God is unchanging. Even though Adam and Eve fell from God's grace, God continues to work and desires to provide a life of grace for mankind (1 Corinthians 2:9,10). He wants us to give all our worries to Him (1 Peter 5:7) and call out to Him in prayer. He has prepared great and unsearchable things for us beyond our imagination (Jeremiah 33:1-3). Moses called out to God and He fought for the Israelites (Exodus 14:13,14). God prepared food and water for three million people in the desert. George Mueller asked for God's help (John 14:13; Matthew 7:7-11) and received 50,000 answers to prayer during the time he fed and raised 3,000 orphans.

In the day of salvation I helped you. When we are powerless and in the depths of despair, God helps us. For 40 years, the Israelites survived through miracles (Deuteronomy 8:3,4). Because of God's work on Calvary, we have received many miracles: forgiveness and righteousness (Romans 3:23,24); sanctification and the Holy Spirit (John 14:16); blessing and well being (Galatians 3:13,14); eternal life (John 11:25,26); and miracles of healing and health (Isaiah 53:4,5). When a senior pastor's son in Indonesia was born with cerebral palsy, he prayed for his son every day, looked at him through the eyes of faith as though he were healed, and God healed him! God provides a life of grace for us, but we must ask for His help to benefit from it.

Heavenly Father, cleanse us, Your fellow workers, and help us to receive all the things You have provided for us.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
