Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Sow and Reap
Galatians 6:7 ~ 6:8

2002-06-30

When Adam and Eve resided in the Garden of Eden, there was nothing for them to worry about. God had already prepared all that they needed; He was the source of their lives. But the situation changed radically when they sinned and fell from God's grace. We can clearly see the results in today's evil world. Through Christ's redemption on the Cross, however, our dead spirits have been brought back to life and we have come to know God.

God is the source of all things: the source of light, of universal order, of all vegetation and nourishment, of all heavenly bodies, and the source of our livelihood (Genesis 1:3-31). God prepared all we would need on this earth even before He created Adam and Eve. They didn't realize they couldn't provide everything for themselves, and they sinned and fell into poverty, disease, and death. We must trust in God who is our Creator and the source of all things, our Provider (Isaiah 45:18; Psalm 23:1).

Sowing and reaping is God's principle. God planted Jesus Christ as our seed of salvation and eternal life so we could become God's children (John 12:24). A farmer must plant seeds to reap the benefit of his land. Without sowing, there is no reaping. When we accept the seed of Christ, then our natural body will become a resurrected body, and we will live resurrected lives (1 Corinthians 15:35-44).

What will we sow and reap? If we sow to please our sinful nature, we will reap destruction; if we sow to please the Spirit, we will reap eternal life (Galatians 5:19-21; 6:7,8). We must sow seeds of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22,23), and we will reap an abundant harvest of love, righteousness, peace, and joy (Hosea 10:12; Romans 14:17).

Material blessing must be sown and then reaped. Tithing is like seed (Malachi 3:10-12). Offerings are like seeds of blessing (2 Corinthians 9:6-11). A bankrupt Christian businessman gave five million won (about US$5,000) to the Philippines to build a church. The Filipinos called it "the bankrupt church" and prayed for the bankrupt businessman who planted the seed; God blessed his business tremendously! Through missions' offerings, we can store up treasures in heaven. God is pleased when we give offerings (Philippians 4:15-19). After sowing, we must expect to reap (Matthew 13:8). When we love and obey God, we can expect to be blessed (Luke 6:38).

Heavenly Father, You are our unlimited resource in life. Help us to plant seeds of faith and expect You to provide us with all that we need.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
