The Death of Jesus That We Always Carry Around in Our Body
2 Corinthians 4:10

2009-06-07

2 Corinthians 4:10, NIV

10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

Every living creature needs to eat to survive. Herbivorous animals feed on grass, and carnivorous animals feed on grass-eating animals. That is how animals gain energy to live. In other words, stronger animals feed on weaker ones. Death and life take place simultaneously.

1. Why did Jesus have to die?

1) Jesus' words at the Last Supper (Jn 6:53-58).
2) We were dead but gained life by feeding on Jesus.
3) Jesus carried our sinful dead body on the Cross (Ro 5:8).

2. Why should we always carry around in our body the death of Jesus?

1) The purposes of the dead body of Jesus Christ.
¨ç Redemption from sin (Ro 3:23-24).
¨è Redemption from a corrupt life (1Co 6:11; 1Pe 1:18-19).
¨é Redemption from disease (1Pe 2:24).
¨ê Redemption from the curse (Gal 3:13-14).
¨ë Redemption from death (Jn 11:25-26; 2Ti 1:10).
2) To gain nourishment (1Jn 5:11-12; Ro 8:17).

3. In order for the life of Jesus to be revealed in our body.

1) Reflect on the meaning of Jesus' death (2Co 4:10; Heb 3:1).
2) Envision our body being filled with the life of Jesus by carrying around the death of Jesus.
3) Believe that Jesus' death has become our life (Col 2:12).
4) Speak as you believe.

We feel so indebted to Jesus when we realize that His death becomes nourishment for our life. However, unless our faith has its root in the death of Jesus Christ, we have no life.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
