Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Jesus Saves Sinners
John 4:4 ~ 4:10

2009-04-26

4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour. 7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, "Will you give me a drink?" 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, "You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?" (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."

If you say to your friend, "Let's go to a bathhouse," and your friend replies, "No, I am too dirty. Let me first go wash myself," then how would you respond to your friend? You will most likely say, "You go to a bathhouse because of your dirt. Why would anyone take a bath when he is clean?" (An example of a man who refuses to believe in Jesus because of his sins)

1. A doctor is needed for the sick.
1) Jesus called Matthew, the tax collector (Mt 9:9).
2) Jesus had dinner with tax collectors and sinners (Mt 9:10-11).
3) Jesus' response to the Pharisees who were criticizing him (Mt 9:12-13)

2. The conversation between Jesus and the Samaritan woman.
1) Argument about the water (Jn 4:7-15)
2) Argument about her husbands (Jn 4:16-18)
3) Argument about the place for worship (Jn 4:19-20)
4) True worship (Jn 4:21-24)
5) She realized that He was the Messiah (Jn 4:25-26, 39).

3. The love of the Lord toward sinners (Lk 15:4-7)
1) One lost sheep out of a hundred
2) Leaving the ninety-nine in the open country and going after the lost sheep
3) The joy of the shepherd who found the lost sheep (Lk 19:10, Mk 18:14)
4) The joy of God (Lk 15:7,10)

We must gather together to worship the Lord and scatter to evangelize the world. God longs with great delight for a sinner to repent and be saved. Jesus saved a robber even as He was dying on the Cross.

Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
