Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
A Lord-Centered Life
Psalms 127:1 ~ 127:2

2006-10-01

Introduction : Many ships sail the ocean and plow through rough water. Even though a ship shakes and rolls from side to side, it will not sink, because the bottom center of the ship was strongly built. Think about tumbling dolls. They always bounce back up no matter how they fall, because a lead weight is fixed on the bottom of the doll to give it a center of gravity that keeps it stable. If an individual or a nation loses its center of gravity, humankind can sink into the rolling waves of history.

1. We will sink unless we live a God-centered life (Ps 127:1-2)
    1) The nations who sank in the sea of history
        (1) Hitler of Germany caused World War II
            - He sank by putting an Aryan idol in the center
        (2) Imperialism of Japan - Sank by worshiping a god called Amateras Omigami
        (3) Communism of the Soviet Union - Entered into politics and sank because of
the materialistic atheism of Marx and Lenin
    2) God-centered nations (Ps 91:14)
        (1) When the Gospel became the center in the continent of Europe
        (2) When the Gospel became the center of Korea
        (3) When the Gospel became the center of the United States (Dt 28:12-14)

2. The Lord becomes our indomitable center of weight
    1) A rainstorm brought by Adam - three calamities
        (1) All humankind will sink (Ro5:12)
    2) Jesus calmed the rainstorm (Lk 8:24)
¡Ý By the atonement on the Cross
        (1) The rainstorm of sin is calmed (1Jn 2:2)
        (2) The rainstorm of the curse is calmed (Gal 3:13-14)
        (3) The rainstorm of disease and death is calmed (Ps 93:3-4, 103:3-4)
    3) When Jesus comes into our center
        (1) We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed (Mt 6:33, Php 1:11)
        (2) Perplexed, but not in despair
        (3) Persecuted, but not abandoned
        (4) Struck down, but not destroyed

3. We should invite Jesus into our center
    1) Seek first the Lord and His kingdom - a Jesus-centered life
    2) Keep the commandments of the Lord
        (1) The Ten Commandments (Ex 20:3:17)    (2) The commandments of love
    3) Do not neglect to pray and read the word of God (Ps 119:58, Eph 6:17-18)
    4) Walk with the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:20, Jn 14:16)

Conclusion : Our ship of life will not be wrecked-even when we face a rainstorm on the rough sea of life-because Jesus has become our center of gravity. We are more than conquerors because Jesus is with us.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
