Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Always Pray and Do Not Give Up
Luke 18:1 ~ 18:8

2006-02-12

Introduction : Such a desperate occasion as a person striking a rock with an egg.
    1) A judge who neither feared God nor cared about men, and a widow
-The unjust judge was proud and impolite
    2) The situation of the widow
        (1) An adversary - a powerful person who brought her fatal trouble and destruction
        (2) She had trouble - it made her so sad
    3) She kept bothering the judge    (Lk 18:6-8)

1. Prayer with a clear objective
    - Many goals will make us lose direction
    1) We must have a clear goal, like the widow against her adversary    (Mt 6:7-8)
    2) Faith is being sure of what we hope for    (Heb 11:1, 6; Mt 7:7)
    3) Write down your goal - The Lord said, "Only one or two things are needed to ask."
        (Lk 10:42; Mk 10:51-52)

2. Prayer clearly aware of God´s promise
    - We need to stand on the rock of the Word to resist doubt    (Jn 15:7; Ro 4:18-22)
    - The grace by which Jesus redeemed us with His blood is a very clear promise
¡Û The Fivefold Message of the Gospel    (Eph 1:7; 2:8)

3. Prayer with a mournful heart and an eager desire
    1) A concentrative prayer - Hannah´s concentrative prayer    (1Sa 1:11, 15-17)
    2) A wholehearted prayer - Elijah prayed for rain at Mount Carmel
        (1Ki 18:41-44; Jas 5:17-18)
    3) An indomitable prayer - The widow kept bothering the unjust judge    (Lk 18:7; 11:8)

4. Prayer with unwavering faith
    1) Wavering faith has no power    (Jas 1:6-8)
    2) Once you make a decision, do not change your mind or look back
        (Lk 9:62; Heb 10:38)
        - He who puts his hand to the plow and looks back or he who shrinks back
    3) Expect a clear answer and make a declaration of faith    (Mk 11:23; 7:29)

Conclusion : It is like a battle to receive an answer to prayer. We must overcome the devil who tries to prevent us from praying, and we must pass God´s test who examines our faith. Prayer to solve our problems needs more extreme countermeasures than a prayer of fellowship, thanks, praise, and intercession. Prayer to receive answers to problems must not be done by chance. We must persist in prayer to overcome our challenges.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

    3 John  1:11
