Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Continue in What You Have Learned and Have Become Convinced Of
2 Timothy 3:13 ~ 3:14

2002-02-10

We live in times of uncertainty in this changing world. People are insecure psychologically because they can't predict what will happen tomorrow. But as Christians, we can look toward the future with certainty when we know who we are in God and firmly believe in His Word.

Let us discover our identity and become convinced of it. We are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Those who don't know Christ live in uncertainty. But we can "participate in God's divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires?(2 Peter 1:4). He carried our infirmities and sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). He redeemed us from the curse so we could be free and receive His grace (Galatians 3:13-14; 2 Corinthians 8:9). Our lineage is based on the Cross (John 1:12-13), and we are a chosen people belonging to God (1 Peter 2:9).

When we look at ourselves through the Cross, we can see who we are in Christ and overcome great things. We must look with our spiritual eyes and see with the eye of the mind. "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children"(Romans 8:16). Jesus Christ gives life in abundance.

We should pray with God's blueprint clearly in mind regarding His plan and will for us. Because of His blueprint accomplished through the Cross for each one of us, His adopted sons, He wants "to work out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will"(Ephesians 1:5, 11). We must firmly believe that God's blueprint for each of us will be accomplished (Philippians 2:13). It can be accomplished - if we "continue in our faith, established and firm"(Colossians 1:23). He wants to do more for us than we can even ask or think (Ephesians 3:20; Matthew 21:22).

Let us confess with thanksgiving our faith and identity in Christ. We should honor Him by expressing our thanks for His grace, His benefits, and His blessings (Psalm 50:23). This pleases God. "We live by faith, not by sight"(2 Corinthians 5:7; Mark 11:22-23). If we confess with our mouths the things we believe in our hearts, miracles can happen. "With God all things are possible"(Matthew 19:26).

Heavenly Father, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, You have given us a great identity that is anchored in You. Help us not to look at the clouds of uncertainty in life only with our physical eyes but with spiritual eyes, so we can see who we really are in You.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

    3 John  1:11
