Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Press on toward the Goal That Is Ahead
Philippians 3:13 ~ 3:14

2004-12-31

Introduction :We have an inevitable destiny that we have to go through. We can´t stop nights and storms from coming. Neither can we remove a rugged mountain that blocks us. However, we can control our attitude when we face those troubles. A good attitude can change our destiny into victory, but a bad attitude may bring destruction.

1. Let´s start the New Year after clearing out the old
    1) Inventory adjustment
        (1) Throw away, share, and give.
        (2) We have to make clearance in our lives.
¨ç Repent of wrong doing resolutely and quit doing it.
                - We can´t live, having a dead body in the upper room (1Jn 1:9).
            ¨è Renounce a bad habit.
                - Start the New Year as a free person (Eph 4:22; Jn 8:36).
    2) Start the New Year with a positive life.
        (1) There is no positiveness for tomorrow in the pile of trash in our life
             (Ps 1:1; Pr 4:23).
        (2) Let us start the New Year positively after being washed by the blood of Jesus
and renewed by the Holy Spirit (1Jn 1:7; Ro 12:2).

2. A new goal
    1) Great love toward God
        (1) God is the perfect Master of my life (Ro 14:8, Gal 2:20).
        (2) The life of a servant - a good and faithful servant (Mt 25:21, 6:21).
        (3) The goal of life to please God (Ro 8:8, 12:1, Heb 11:6).
    2) Love your neighbor
        (1) Let us not condemn (Ps 37:8, Lk 6:37).
        (2) Let us not be indifferent (1 Jn 3:18, Mt 25:35-36).
        (3) Let us have mercy (Lk 10:36-37, 6:36, Col 3:12).

3. Renew your self image
    1) Put on the five colored clothes of the fivefold gospel
        (Ro 3:24; Gal 5:22-23; Ac 10:38; 2Co 8:9; Jn 14:1-2).
    2) Put on the overcoat of the threefold blessing (3Jn 1:2; Ps 103:2-5).
    3) Put the medal of the fourfold status on your chest
        - Let us start the New Year with a clear identity and new self image
           (1Pe 2:9; 2Co 5:17).

Conclusion : It is greatly meaningful to start the New Year with the beginning of a new life. Nothing good will happen to us if we do not make a great decision and change but just have a new calendar.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
