Introduction : The husband and wife and parents and children are the basic units of a family and a society. Shaking and destroying the basic units of the family and society is a crisis we are facing. The high rate of divorce, abortion, and maltreatment of children makes our society sick. The fence of the family is collapsing through the spread of egoism, mammonism, and sensual pleasure. Today, I would like to interpret the meaning of the marriage union and the family through God´s Word.
1. The creation of humankind. 1) Assertion of atheistic humanists. They can only interpret the origin of man materialistically. The universe was formed by a big explosion (Big Bang), and humankind evolved from a single cell. 2) Creationism - God created the heavens and the earth. God created all living things as well as humankind (Ge 1:27; 2:6,7; 2:21-24).
2. The beginning of husband and wife. 1) It is not good that man should be alone (Ge 2:18). (1) Association, cooperation, and communication. (2) Birth of children (Ge 1:28). 2) The role and order of husband and wife. (1) Man first, woman last (elder brother, younger sister) (Ge 2:21,22). (2) Man receives help, woman helps man - The role before the tree of good and evil that appeared vividly (Ge 3:6). (3) The head and the body - Love from older toward younger members of a family. Relationship of respect (Col 2:19; 3:18,19). Husband (Eph 5:25, 28-29). Wife (Eph 5:22-24). To husband and wife (Eph 5:33). 3) The legal relationship of husband and wife. (1) God joined the man with the woman (Mk 10:6-9; Mal 2:15). (2) Prohibited divorce and remarriage (Mt 5:31,32; 1 Co 7:10,11). (3) The only remarriage permitted - death (Ro 7:1-3; 1 Co 7:39).
3. To be a happy husband and wife. 1) Take aim at happiness and keep step (Pr 17:1; Php 2:2; 1 Th 5:13; 1 Co 7:3-5; 6:18). Must be aware of each other with careful concern, because married couples are living together. 2) How to live together. (1) Accept each other as he or she is - personality (Ro 14:1; 15:1,2; Eph 4:2; 1 Pe 3:1,7). (2) Always understand and try to keep step with each other (Col 2:2). (3) Do not blame each other (Mt 7:1,3; Eph 4:32). (4) Be patient (Col 3:12). (5) Love each other - conceal a defect and encourage each other (Col 3:14; 1 Pe 4:8).
Conclusion : It would be a lie if you could explain a relationship between a husband and a wife in 30 minutes. Although I have been married for 40 years, I still don´t think that I fully know my wife, for she is still a subject of study, and I´m still trying to attain a happy relationship with her to have a happily married life.
