A Blind Man, Bartimaeus Who Is Healed
Mark 10:46 ~ 10:52

2016-04-10

(Mark 10:46~52)

There was a man named Bartimaeus in Jericho near Jerusalem. He was blind and he lived by begging. One day, he heard many people passing by, talking noisily. Then, someone told him that Jesus and a crowd following Him were passing by. Bartimaeus immediately shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" People rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more. Then, Jesus stopped and called Bartimaeus.

1. Have a desire
1) As Bartimaeus heard rumors that many sick people were healed by Jesus, he had a desire that "if I meet Jesus, I will be able to see." (Rom. 10:17)
2) In order to receive healing, our hearts must be filled with hopes first. (Phil. 2:13)

2. Have a specific dream
1) When Jesus was passing by, Bartimaeus shouted, "Have mercy on me!" Even though people rebuked him, he did not give up and shouted all the more because he had a dream that he is going to receive healing. (Mark 10:47~49)
2) Then, Jesus stopped and said to call Bartimaeus.

3. Go forward with faith
1) Bartimaeus threw his cloak aside and came to Jesus. This was an expression of faith that he will surely receive his sight if he comes to Jesus. (Mark 10:50)
2) Faith is visible because it is shown through action. (Heb. 11:6~7)

4. What do you want me to do for you?
1) Bartimaeus thought and dreamed of receiving his sight and came to Jesus with faith. Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?"
2) Bartimaeus clearly answered, "I want to see." Jesus heard Bartimaeus' mouth confession and healed him. (Mark 10:50~51)

Conclusion
The miracles of the Lord always get filled in the vessel of our faith. Faith without deeds is dead, and faith with deeds is the vessel that holds miracles. The Lord said to Martha, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" Therefore, people with faith will experience amazing miracles that reveal God's glory.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
