Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Signs Being Performed by the Believers
Mark 16:17 ~ 16:20

2016-04-03

After resurrection, Jesus came to His disciples and said, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." This is the message that is also given to us who believe in the redemptive grace of Jesus' cross.

1. Driving out demons
1) Acts 10:38 says, "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." (Acts 10:38)
2) Jesus freed many people from diseases by driving out demons. In addition, He rebuked the wind and the raging waters, and made them calm. (Luke 8:22~24)
3) Jesus gave His disciples power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases. We must use authority and power given by the Lord. (Luke 9:1~2)

2. Speaking in new tongues
1) We know from the Bible that people speak in tongues when they are filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:4)
2) The Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. (Romans 8:26)
3) If we speak in tongues when we feel down, we can enjoy peace and rest. (1 Cor. 14:2)

3. Picking up snakes
1) Even though Paul had his hand bitten by a viper, he suffered no ill effects. (Acts 28:1~5)
2) The devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour, but cannot harm the believers.

4. Drinking deadly poison, but not being hurt at all
1) People who believe in God will not get hurt at all even when they drink deadly poison. (Mark 16:18)
2) Anger becomes poison in our bodies and hearts. The antidote of anger is forgiveness and love.

5. Getting healed by placing their hands on sick people
1) God does not want us to be in pain from diseases. He heals us.
2) We must place our hands on sick people with authority given by Jesus. (Acts 19:11~12)

Conclusion
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. When we spread the gospel, we must believe that signs promised by the Lord will follow. Then, the Lord Jesus will work.
