Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
David and Goliath
1 Samuel 17:41 ~ 17:50

2015-04-26

Before experiencing the fall, Adam and Eve were people of God. In other words, which meant they were people created in the image of God. As the consequence of rebelling against God and committing sin, Adam’s spirit died and his communication with God was broken, and Adam fell from being a man of God to becoming just a man, eventually living under the bondage of sin to become a man of Satan. In this way, man was transformed from being a man of God into a man to a man of Satan.

1. The battle between the Israelites and the Philistines

1) King Saul and Goliath who were just humans –Looking at Goliath purely from a human point of view, King Saul thought that the Israelites were no match for Goliath (1 Samuel 17:8-10)
2) With Goliath covering his range of vision, Saul could not see God (1 Samuel 17:11)

2. The battle between David and Goliath

1) As a man of God, David looked at Goliath with the thoughts and eyes of God. In David’s eyes, Goliath was nothing but a large lump
2) Goliath who was a mere man and David who was a man of God ?It was obvious that the battle was over (1 Samuel 17:46-47)

3. The energy of a word
1) David who was incredibly bold (1 Samuel 17:34-37)
2) Goliath’s taunt (1 Samuel 17:44)
3) The challenging words of David (1 Samuel 17:45)

4. God’s being with us
1) Positive thinking (Ephesians 3:20)
2) The dream of victory and a confident faith (1 John 5:4)
3) Commanding (Mark 11:23)

David was not yet a full-grown warrior. He was still a 17 year old youngster, but since he lived a fourth dimensional life with God he was victorious.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
