Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
The Messenger of the Good News
Hebrews 2:1 ~ 2:4

2001-06-20

We received salvation because someone was faithful in delivering the message of the Gospel to us. It is the responsibility of each one of us to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Someone told us, now we must tell others.

The gospel is Good News - not bad news. Every day mankind is heading toward death and destruction (Romans 3:10; 3:23). But there is a way out of this predicament through the cross of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 53:5). If we believe in the Good News and accept Jesus Christ (John 3:16), we will be saved when we call upon His name (Romans 10:13-15). Recently some farmers in our drought-stricken country found fresh water in abandoned mines and sent the good news to the desperate farmers in the area. They distributed 700 tons of water to the farmers who have found new life for their crops and are blessed. Likewise, the hearts of mankind are dry and withered from sin. But when people hear and accept the Good News, Jesus becomes their Spring of Eternal Life.

God uses people to preach the Gospel. He preached the Good News through the person of His Son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 2:3-4). The Holy Spirit gives boldness and power for witnessing throughout the earth (Acts 1:8). When Peter was filled with Holy Spirit power and preached the Good News, many believed (Acts 4:4). The apostles proclaimed the Good News everywhere (Acts 5:42). Peter and John spread the Good News (Acts 4:18-22; 4:29-31). The Holy Spirit gives us the desire and courage to share the Good News with others (Acts 2:17). Sharing the Gospel is not just the work of pastors; it is the responsibility of everyone who believes in Jesus.

What does God make people do? He asks some to be His messengers to the city; some are messengers to the world (Acts 13:1-3). We must have God's concern and convey the Good News to all who have not heard. God constantly calls for more workers to spread the Gospel and blesses nations, churches, and individuals who do the work of missions. Missionaries may go to the front line, but we who stay and support them with our prayers and finances will share alike in the rewards (1 Samuel 30:24-25; Matthew 10:40-42). Who will deliver the Good News in Korea and in foreign lands? Every believer must share in this responsibility.

Heavenly Father, Your greatest concern is that we share the Good News of Jesus Christ and establish churches. Help each of us to put all of our efforts into spreading the Gospel.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.
