Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Holy Spirit, The Counselor
John 16:5 ~ 1:14

2017-12-10

Who is God? Because God is spirit, human beings cannot directly see God. Jesus said to His disciples, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ¡®Show us the Father'?" (John 14:9) He also said, "When he looks at me, he sees the one who sent me." (John 12:45) We can know who God the Father is through Jesus' thoughts, dreams, faith, and creative declarations. Also, we can know who God the Father is through the Holy Spirit since Jesus' resurrection and ascension.

1. The Holy Spirit sent by Jesus
1) Jesus promised His disciples that He will send another Counselor. Another Counselor that Jesus talked about is the Holy Spirit. (John 14:16~17)
2) The works of the Holy Spirit
¨ç The Holy Spirit guides Christians who are God's children. (John 16:13)
¨è The Holy Spirit preaches about Jesus Christ who is the truth. (John 15:26)
¨é The Holy Spirit teaches Christians and speaks to our spirits. (John 14:26)
¨ê The Holy Spirit holds churches and Christians. (Acts 9:31)
¨ë The Holy Spirit helps and prays for Christians. (Rom. 8:26~27)

2. The name of the Holy Spirit
1) There are various names for the Holy Spirit. One of them is the Spirit of God. (Genesis 1:2)
2) The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Lord. In other words, the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of wisdom and intelligence. (Isa. 11:2)
3) Jesus called the Holy Spirit as Another Counselor. (John 14:16)
4) The Holy Spirit is called as the Spirit of the truth, holiness, and grace. (Heb. 10:29)

3. When the Holy Spirit works
1) If the Holy Spirit works, the works of realizing sins and repentance take place. (John 16:8)
2) If the Holy Spirit works, the devil that steals, kills, and destroys go away. (Act. 10:38)
3) If the Holy Spirit works, we will drive out sins and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 8:2)

Conclusion
If we go before God and pray with tears when we face difficulties, our problems will be solved and our life will change. God did not leave us alone as orphans. God is always with us by sending the Holy Spirit, the Counselor and is guiding us. Always rely on the Holy Spirit, the Counselor and be bold. Then, we will bear the abundant fruit of the Holy Spirit and conquer the world with the power of the Holy Spirit.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
