The Cross, the Power to Change Our Lives
1 Corinthians 13:1 ~ 13:3

2017-09-17

All people live by hoping a better tomorrow than today. They hope that their lives will get better. Also, they hope that households, societies, and nations will get better. However, people cannot bring fundamental changes on their own strength. When we believe in Jesus who redeemed us from our sins by dying on the cross, we experience fundamental changes. When we believe in and rely on the suffering of Jesus' cross and the grace of redemption, we are changed into a life where we may enjoy good health and that all may go well with us, even as our souls are getting along well.

1. The driving force to change
1) People cannot change with their own strength. If we believe in Jesus as the Savior and be born of the Holy Spirit, our lives and selves fundamentally change. (2 Cor. 5:17)
2) Look to the cross of Jesus and challenge yourself by having dreams toward changes. We have to have dreams and hopes toward changes so that we can expect a better tomorrow. (Phil. 2:13)

2. Depend on the power of the precious blood
1) There aren't many people who apply their faith in life even if they say that they believe in the Bible. (James 2:26)
2) We must believe that the suffering of Jesus who came as the Passover lamb and the grace of redemption will come true at this time and apply them in our life. (Heb. 13:8)

3. The life to enjoy freedom and liberation
1) Today, many people live their lives by becoming slaves to the devil unknowingly. However, if they rely on the cross of Jesus, they can enjoy freedom and liberation. (Luke 8:35)
2) We are all in the race of faith. Just as we need to look at the target and run in order to win in a race, we need to look to the cross and run in the race of faith. (Heb. 12:2)

Conclusion
There is no use if we think about doing something and do not put it into action. It is the same with a life of faith. We must apply faith so that changes in life will come. When we apply the fivefold gospel that was achieved through the cross by Jesus, we can experience amazing changes.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
