Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Is There Any Religion without Love?
Luke 10:25 ~ 10:37

2016-07-03

An expert in the law came to Jesus and asked, "Who is my neighbor?" Instead of giving him an answer, Jesus told him a parable. A man was going to Jerusalem when he fell into the hands of robbers. The man had all of his possession taken away and was dying because he was severely beaten. A priest going down the same road saw the man, but he passed by without helping. A few moments later, a Levite also going down the same road saw the man, but he did not help him. However, a Samaritan discovered the man and took pity on him. After pouring on oil and wine and bandaging his wounds, the Samaritan took the man to an inn and took care of him. After Jesus told this parable, He said, "Go and do likewise."

1. If there is not love
1) When a priest saw a man who fell into the hands of robbers, he turned his head and passed by. (Luke 10:30~31)
2) A Levite who carries out religious rituals also did not help out the man who fell into the hands of robbers. (Luke 10:32)
3) But, a Samaritan took the man to an inn and took care of him. (Luke 10:33~35)

2. Who is a good man?
1) Legalists or ritualists only criticize and rebuke by finding faults. (Matt. 7:3~5)
2) Good people are the ones who practice love with hearts of pity. (Rom. 13:8, 10)

3. Good things that God sees
1) If we can preach great sermons, speak words of angels, have excellent knowledge, and great leadership, but have not love, we are only clanging cymbals. (1 Cor. 13:1)
2) If we have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if we have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, we are nothing before God. (1 Cor. 13:2)
3) If we give what we possess to the poor and volunteer diligently, but have not love, we gain nothing. (1 Cor. 13:3)

4. An example of true love
1) God showed us an example of true love. He loved us who are sinners. So He sent His one and only Son Jesus Christ to this land. (John 3:16)
2) We must not condemn and judge people, but help them to live a change life by repentance. (John 8:10~11)

Conclusion
Love is to not overlook the lawless world. Love is to acknowledge sin as sin and transgression as transgression. It is to give opportunities to people to live a changed life by receiving forgiveness with the redemptive grace of Jesus. We who have received the love of God must live by following righteousness, love, and holiness.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
