"Jesus, light of hope" was proclaimed in the mire of despair
at the Honduras Crusade. About 100,000 people gathered
in the center of Honduras, a Roman Catholic nation.

On the night of 15 November, Dr. Cho preached on the theme, "The Hope of Honduras is Jesus" at the National Stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

On the night of 16 November, about 10,000 people accepted Jesus as their Savior when Dr. Cho invited people to commit their lives to Jesus after preaching at the National Stadium in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Freedom from poverty and despair was proclaimed at the National Stadium in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.

'The Hope of Honduras is Jesus' was the theme of the crusade hosted by the Assemblies of God in Honduras and conducted by DCEM (David Cho Evangelistic Mission). The attendees found out that genuine salvation comes only from Jesus Christ, and they were moved to tears of repentance. About 100,000 people praised the Lord with "Hallelujahs" as they responded to Dr. Cho's preaching, that only Jesus can give genuine hope to people.

Before Dr. Cho preached, the Korean folk dancers from the Performers' Mission of Yoido Full Gospel Church gave a special performance. The congregation clapped and watched in fascination. Rev. Alcides Banegas, superintendent of the Assemblies of God in Honduras, introduced Dr. Cho. He told them about the Jesus of hope saying, "I came here to deliver hope to the people in Honduras. Freedom from poverty and disease starts by believing in Jesus Christ who shed His blood on the Cross and rose from the grave. You can receive true freedom by believing in Jesus Christ and following Him."

Dr. Cho repeatedly shared the secret of success how Korea overcame difficult times and became an advanced country in the world.

"After the Korean War in which everything in Korea was destroyed, it seemed that our country was hopeless," said Dr. Cho. "Countless people were homeless, nearly living on the street."

Dr. Cho said that Korea was able to become an advanced country only by faith in Jesus Christ. He emphasized the need to believe in Jesus and follow Him who is our genuine deliverer from difficulty.

Dr. Cho's sermon pierced the hearts of the Hondurans who have suffered from poverty for such a long time. After Dr. Cho finished preaching, thousands of people committed their lives to Jesus. After prayer for the sick, there were testimonies of healing, including healing from throat disease and healing for a man with a broken ankle who was able to walk again.

After the crusade, the atmosphere of Honduras was changed into hope and encouragement, and their requests were made known to God through prayer and supplication. Rev. Ernesto Lopez, coordinator of the crusade, explained that he had prayed earnestly that Hondurans would receive hope, and he was pleased that Hondurans and the churches now had hope through this crusade.

Hurricane Mitch struck Honduras in 1998 and took away their sources of livelihood. The people have been harassed by poverty and disease.

Rev. Lopez said that this crusade will become a turning point in unifying the interdenominational churches.

Tegucigalpa, the capital city where the crusade was held, is the commercial heart of the country with about one million population and is surrounded by slums with an additional population of 300,000~400,000 people. In Tegucigalpa, translated Silver Mountain, there are 1,800 protestant churches, and 1,000 of these churches belong to the Assemblies of God in Honduras.

After the crusade was over, Dr. Cho preached for the Sunday service in Rev. Lopez' church.
