The REFICE 2001 Crusade (Interafrican meeting of Evangelisation et de formation Interafrician pour la croissance de l'eglise - REFICE 2001 avec le Dr. David Yonggi Cho) was held at F.H.B. Dr. Cho prayed for the President and Cote d'Ivoire's prosperity, saying he would be continuously concerned for Cote d'Ivoire. President Gbagbo said, "I think Cote d'Ivoire people will get new hope and vision through this crusade. I'm thankful for a world spiritual leader, that Dr. Cho could come to Cote d'Ivoire."

Cote d'lvoire National television and daily newspapers reported that Dr. Cho brought messages of blessing for Cote d'Ivoire. Dr. Cho had a television and radio interview, and emphasized that Cote d'Ivoire has a bright future. It would be a prosperous nation if all people would be born again.
Cote d'lvoire has become increasingly stable socially and politically after President Gbagbo took over the reins of government, but some discord between minority races still remains. Recently, Cote d'Ivoire has been working on economic stabilization, but the production of cocoa beans(best export goods) decreased and Cote d'Ivoire is hoping economic aid from Europe.
